The Southern Alliance for Physician Specialties CME is an organization comprised of representatives from numerous physician specialty societies. The purpose being to bring together a cohesive unit to provide consistent, quality accredited continuing education (ACE) in a variety of activities. Each of the specialties represented have extensive experience in conducting ACE activities, either via joint providership with an accredited provider, or directly accredited. Akin to a hospital-based educational program, SAPS CME offers a diverse range of activities with a specified target audience.

The Southern Alliance for Physician Specialties CME ACE program seeks to provide healthcare professionals with education that is vital to the quality and patient safety of the patients for whom they provide care. The accredited continuing education program provides an opportunity for medical care providers to not only improve their clinical skills and knowledge, but also acquire new medical proficiencies, to align with the mission of SAPS CME. The mission is based upon a continual system of organized evidence based educational opportunities that are responsive to the perceived educational needs of medical personnel and service needs of the community.

SAPS CME Program, therefore, goes beyond the traditional administrative and accrediting functions of medical education, and challenges itself to become a catalyst, advocate for, and a provider of education that promotes change, development, and improvement. Its purpose is to provide high-quality, evidence-based educational opportunities designed to advance physician competence, enhance practice performance, promote patient safety, and improve patient outcomes.
